Food insecurity has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic with the number of people suffering from hunger greatly increasing. For people experiencing homelessness at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, finding healthy food options can be a challenge.
A Learning Collaborative is planned to assist health centers to collaborate with clients experiencing homelessness to develop Food Maps to identify and document:
1) where to access food;
2) transportation routes to get to the food sources;
3) nutrition programs available to supplement food options.
The main goals for this Learning Collaborative are:
1) To assist health centers to understand the principles of client engagement and to strengthen client engagement.
