Medical Respite Care Directory

Medical Respite Care Directory

IMPORTANT: We launched a NEW medical respite care directory in March of 2025. To be included in the new directory, medical respite/recuperative care programs must complete a new form, which is available herePrograms are asked to complete it as soon as possible. To ensure the information we have is accurate and up to date, we did NOT move entries listed in the old directory over to the new directory. In addition, only programs that have completed a directory profile will be eligible to apply for certification.

To make changes to an existing directory entry, please email Samantha Marco rather than submitting an additional entry.

Medical Respite Care is acute and post-acute care for people experiencing homelessness who are too ill or frail to recover from a physical illness or injury on the streets, but who are not ill enough to be in a hospital. This directory contains descriptions of all known medical respite care programs in the United States; these programs offer safe shelter, clinical care, and aftercare planning assistance that people without homes need to recover from illnesses or injuries.

States on the map are grouped according to their HRSA region. HRSA (the Health Resources and Services Administration), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary federal agency for improving health care to people who are geographically isolated, economically or medically vulnerable.
