Metropolitan Development Council
The Metropolitan Development Council (MDC), a nonprofit community action agency, provides family practice health services throughout Tacoma/Pierce County.
Services
Primary care, dental, and mental health services are provided in the Healthcare for the Homeless Clinic and at various sites throughout Pierce County. An all-female staff provides a weekly primary care clinic for victims of domestic violence.
Linkages
MDC has a long history of cooperative planning with other social service agencies that include regional and state Coalitions for the Homeless, Pierce County Continuum of Care, Tacoma Pierce County Health Department, public/private shools and universities, community mental health and primary care clinics, and veterans’s organizations. MDC is one of the lead agencies in the development and implementation of Pierce County’s Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness and a lead agency in Project Homeless Connect.
