The Greater New Bedford Community Health Center (GNBCHC) has been operating since 1981. They serve over 20% of the population of Greater New Bedford with several medical, dental and ancillary health services, including adult and pediatric primary care, urgent care, dentistry, podiatry, Wellness Connection, WIC, maternal and child health, women’s health services, HIV/AIDS primary care, prevention and treatment, medical social work, translation services, benefits counseling, nursing, and specialty clinics. On-site laboratory and radiology services are provided, and a satellite site at the Caroline Street Apartments offers health services for the elderly.

GNBCHC was awarded a Health Care for the Homeless grant in 2015.
