Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless, Inc.
Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) provides services at a consolidated health campus and through extensive outreach. The centralized campus is located in the city and service area core, near emergency shelters, hospitals, meal sites, and main public transportation routes. Â
The AHCH mission is to provide caring and comprehensive health and integrated supportive services, linking people experiencing homelessness to individual and collective solutions and to be a leader in implementing innovative service models and a catalyst for solutions to homelessness and to uphold a commitment to diversity and equity.
Services
AHCH operates a free-standing medical clinic, offering integrated primary care, behavioral health care, volunteer-run optometry, and referrals to specialty care such as dermatology, podiatry, neurology, pain, pulmonary, and specialty clinics. A motel voucher program lodges people who are homeless who require shelter during recuperation from illnesses and provides emergency shelter for families in crisis.
The dental clinic offers emergency, preventive, and restorative care. AHCH also offers a daily drop-in center in an expanded 8,600 square foot Resource Center, providing client advocacy, public benefits enrollment, and short and long -term case management for housing.
A harm reduction team conducts outreach, testing, and counseling, as well as prevention education and syringe services. The project provides a continuum of behavioral health services based on harm reduction and community/social models of recovery for co-occurring and multiple disorders.
