In 1987, Memphis Health Center (MHC) responded to the health care access needs of the growing number of individuals who were homeless in Memphis. In collaboration with the Salvation Army and several other community based support organizations, MHC began to provide a comprehensive array of medical and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

24 hour emergency on-call, Asthma treatment, Behavioral/Mental Health Care Services, Blood Pressure Monitoring, Cancer Screening, Case Management/Social Services, Chronic Bronchitis/Emphysema, Contraceptives (issued w/counseling), Dental/oral Care, Diabetes Testing/Care, Family Planning, Flu Vaccinations, Health/Nutritional Education,  HIV/AIDS screening/education, Immunizations, Labs, OB/GYN, Outreach, PATH services, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Physical Exams, Primary Health Care, Referrals for Specialty Care, Specialty Care, STD Testing, TB screening/education, Well Child Check-ups, X-rays, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Referrals

Linkages

Linkages include Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), Cocaine Alcohol Awareness Program (CAAP), and Southwest Mental Health Center. MHC is also a member of Homeless Consortium of Partners for the Homeless (Federal) and The Community Alliance for the Homeless which facilitates networking with local homeless service providers.
