La Maestra Family Clinic

Dedicated to transforming the health and well-being of low-income and immigrant residents through compassionate care, self-sufficiency and community participation La Maestra (Spanish for “the teacher”) has grown into an award-winning health organization that served 47,866 patients and provided 187,623 clinic visits in 2017.

La Maestra currently has five primary care clinics, including the Hope Clinic, which is a health center for the homeless site, ten dental suites, four school-based sites, a mobile medical and dental unit, and a mobile mammography coach that serves central, east and south San Diego County.

Through La Maestra Circle of Care services, the organization provides onsite upstream, social services including a food pantry, housing application assistance, housing, job training, microcredit and microenterprise programs, legal advocacy, translation and interpretation services and a community garden.

La Maestra (Spanish for “the teacher”) provides a unique level of care where residents find not only a “medical home” but a “family” of staff and volunteers that care about their entire health and well-being.
