Mary Eliza Mahoney Health Center (formerly known as Newark Homeless Health Care) was originally funded in 1985 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The project is administered by the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, under the Division of Medical Care Services. This linkage to the city’s health department provides an array of additional services for individuals experiencing homelessness in Newark.

Asthma treatment, Behavioral/Mental Health Care Services, Blood Pressure Monitoring, Case Management/Social Services, Dental/oral Care, Electronic Medical Records, Flu Vaccinations, Health/Nutritional Education, HIV/AIDS screening/education, Immunizations, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Labs, Medication Prescribing, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Mobile Medical Services, Outreach, Pediatrics, Primary Health Care, Referrals for Specialty Care, STD Testing, TB screening/education, Tobacco cessation, Women’s Health
Linkages
Various preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services are obtained through a direct referral system generated on-site. Services include x-rays for diagnosis of chest diseases, substance abuse treatment, and follow-up.
