The Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center’s (ANHC) mission is to improve wellness by providing high quality compassionate healthcare, regardless of ability to pay.

Services

Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, behavioral health specialists, dentists, nurses, case managers, and enrollment specialists provide primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care, as well as support in navigating resources. In addition, they perform outreach, provide case management and health education, coordinate referrals, and assist in enrollment for a variety of support programs.

Routine services include well child, preventive care, immunizations, acute illness care, dental care, substance abuse screening, behavioral health assessments and consultation, and referral for substance abuse and mental illness. Patients have 24-hour access to care via the on-call physician staff.

Linkages

The project collaborates with several shelters: Brother Francis Shelter and Anchorage Rescue Mission (single adults); Clare House and Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis Shelter (women and children); McKinnell Shelter (men and children or families); Adult Rehabilitation Program (adult males with chemical dependency); Anchorage Community Mental Health Services (adults, families, children & adolescents with mental illness).

In the event that substance abuse treatment or mental health treatment needs exceed the abilities of ANHC-based services, ANHC staff refer patients to a variety of in and outpatient services in the community. Specialty dental services outside of the scope of dental services at ANHC are referred to local area dentists.
