The individuals who come through the doors of recuperative care programs are at the very center of why we do this work. It’s their needs, voices and experiences that shape recuperative care services and keep us striving to do better. The National Institute for Medical Respite Care (NIMRC) is committed to supporting people with lived experience of homelessness in attending the inaugural California Recuperative Care Symposium.
NIMRC is offering full client scholarships that cover all expenses related to attending the event. Scholarships include:
- Symposium registration (includes breakfast and lunch both days)
- Admission to all Symposium sessions and special events
- A room for two nights at the Sacramento Hilton Arden West (Sept. 11 and 12, 2024)
- Transportation fare to and from the Symposium (flight, train, or bus)
- Ground transportation from the Sacramento airport or other nearby stations to the hotel
- Per diem (for meals not offered during the Symposium)
Eligibility criteria for the client scholarship program:
- Applicant must have lived experience of homelessness AND a health or homeless service provider to support their attendance (Current or former clients of a recuperative care program, specifically, are strongly encouraged to apply.)
- Applicant must be a California resident.
- Applicant must be able to make travel arrangements independently. NIMRC will cover expenses, book the hotel room, and provide instructions on making other travel arrangements; the applicants selected will be responsible for booking their individual travel.
- Applicants must be able to travel and attend the Symposium independently OR be accompanied by a recuperative care, health care or homeless services provider who is attending the Symposium to provide onsite support during the event.
