In this webinar, three projects from New York, Baltimore, and Oakland, California, will explain how their consumers assist in ACA education and outreach.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has the potential to improve the health and financial security of millions by offering non-disabled adults affordable health care coverage. The success of this endeavor will rely in large part on the efforts to educate the public and engage in outreach and enrollment assistance to ensure those eligible are actually enrolled. For those experiencing homelessness, different education and outreach strategies are likely needed. Using consumers and consumer advisory boards to educate other individuals experiencing homelessness about the opportunities in the ACA and the process to enroll in health insurance is one creative way to reach a sometimes difficult to reach population. Strategies for providing formal training, developing written materials, and partnering with other community based organizations will be discussed.
