The Role of the Social Determinants of Health in Promoting Health Equity

Presented by the National Health Care for the Homeless Council and the National Center for Medical Education, Development and Research
Monday, August 20, 2018 | 11 a.m-12 p.m. CT

The impact of factors such as housing, socioeconomic status, education, social support, and safety have been well documented as key influencers of a patient’s health and response to treatment. In fact, they may have more influence over health outcomes than access to medical services alone.

This webinar will provide an overview of the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and describe how these determinants promote health equity. The relationship between SDOH and implicit bias will be explored. Participants will also learn how cultural humility may be used to address unconscious biases.
