Supporting Medical Respite Clients Who Live with Mental Health Conditions

Mental health conditions may impact a person’s ability to engage in productive activities (such as work, school, or self-care), develop and sustain health relationships, or adapt to change and cope with adversity. However, like all health conditions, a person’s experience of their mental health conditions changes and is greatly impacted by factors such as acuity of symptoms, stress, other health conditions, housing, nutrition, and relationships. People can and do recover from their mental health conditions and often do not experience lasting impact on their ability to engage in meaningful activities.
