Integrating Routine HIV Testing into Care: Strategies for Improvement and Partnership

June 24, 2015 | 1-2 p.m. Eastern

In recognition of HIV testing day (June 27, 2015), the National HCH Council will host a webinar on HIV testing strategies. HIV testing and counseling are the cornerstones of HIV prevention response, allowing individuals to know their HIV status and access appropriate services. However, testing rates in primary care settings remain low. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend routine, voluntary HIV screening for all patients aged 13 to 65 years in all health care settings as a normal part of medical practice, similar to screening for other treatable conditions. This webinar will provide background information on an HIV study and report completed by the National HCH Council as well as best practices and strategies on how to integrate testing into primary care. A case study will highlight how an HCH site is currently conducting testing and how these strategies are being enhanced programmatically. This important web event will discuss linkages to care and provide various resources.
