Training Coordinator (remote/Baltimore, MD)


 The Training Coordinator supports a culture of continuous learning across our multi-disciplinary agency to ensure high quality service delivery and staff satisfaction. The Coordinator will develop, support and evaluate a training program that reflects agency core values and strategic plan goals, addresses technical and leadership competencies, and meets regulatory and legal requirements.

 Key Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with agency leaders to create the annual training plan that addresses the agency’s values and priorities. Sets goals and outcomes, evaluates the effectiveness of the plan activities, implements improvements and regularly reports on the plan.
  • Monitor and report on staff training and certification compliance. Ensure training and testing of staff members are documented according to agency practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Determine how to meet training needs and support department-specific training initiatives across the agency. As necessary, research and propose cost effective means to achieve education and training objectives. Serve as a resource for trainings available in the community that meet agency needs and requirements. Partner with Compliance department to determine the method and means of training on agency policies and procedures.
  • Work with third party training vendors to coordinate in-house trainings and virtual trainings. Ensure coordination of a variety of training calendars across the agency and sites. Assist staff members who are subject matter experts with instructional design and presentation skills (“train the trainer”).
  • In partnership with the Communications department, ensure that training materials are well-designed, standardized and easily accessible.
  • Develop and deliver trainings as necessary. Oversee and refine the monthly new hire orientation. Assist the Director of Human Resources in designing and delivering engaging supervisory trainings and other staff trainings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources on the maintenance of the agency’s learning and performance management (L/PMS) system. Works with staff and leaders to determine content needs and deliver end-user training.

Key Agency Responsibilities 

In addition to role responsibilities, each staff member has the following responsibilities as a part of their employment:

  • Models and reinforces the agency’s core values of dignity, authenticity, hope, justice, passion and balance
  • Actively participates in performance improvement activities and advocacy activities that support the mission
  • Performs other duties on an as-needed basis
  • Protects our clients’ personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant health care related IT security regulations 

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

Formal Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Masters’ degree in Human Resources, Organizational or Training Development, or Instructional Design preferred
  • Knowledge of health care regulatory compliance in the context of staff training and development required
  • CPR Certified as an instructor or able to obtain certification within the first six months in the role


  • Five years delivering trainings within a healthcare or social service setting
  • At least two years training people to become trainers
  • Experience in HealthcareSource or similar learning and performance management systems required
  • Experience with video editing software and virtual learning platforms preferred
  • Experience working across disciplines to develop a catalogue of classroom and experiential training opportunities


  • Strong and clear presentation, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Builds rapport and relationships; has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Learns and adapts quickly; is self-reflective
  • Values working with diverse stakeholders
  • Sets clear goals, uses action plans and knows how to prioritize
