Registered Nurse Care Manager (Washington, DC)

Joseph’s House seeks a registered nurse for a full-time position supervising care for current and former residents. Over the last 30 years, Joseph’s House has served as a welcoming community for men, women and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness who are living with HIV or terminal cancer. We offer around-the-clock, comprehensive nursing and support services to our current residents, and nurture a shared community life among staff, volunteers, residents and former residents.

Job Responsibilities

The selected applicant will serve as one of two lead registered nurses under the supervision of our Program Director. The schedule is typically 32 hours/week (four 8-hour daytime shifts) with some overnight and weekend call responsibilities. The nurse role involves the oversight of all aspects of daily care, including symptom and medication management, care coordination with outside providers, as well as medical case management for former residents. Our nurses also directly supervise our dedicated and skilled team of resident care aides and volunteers in their provision of hands-on care and support.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse (RN) licensed in the District of Columbia
  • At least two years of experience providing nursing care to vulnerable, underserved populations, particularly to individuals experiencing homelessness or those with a history of mental illness and/or substance use
  • The ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural community and a desire to bring one’s whole self to the service of our community
