Description:

Healing House is a 24/7, 8-10 bed recuperative care shelter for families (with minor children) experiencing homelessness and who have a child or parent being discharged from the hospital and who need a safe place in which to recuperate. Included in this population are newborn infants and their parents who are discharged back on to the street. The program offers shelter and meals, parenting support, recuperative care, housing case management, employment support services, early childhood development screening, and transportation to and from follow-up medical appointments. Length of stay is up to 28 days.

Admission Criteria:

Admission per physician referral only. Member of family is in need of a safe nurturing place to recuperate post hospitalization. Homeless moms with high risk pregnancy close to delivery are also accepted.

Healing House Coordinator has nursing degree and staff are CNA’s. Although Healing House does not provide direct medical care we are able to refer and transport to medical providers as needed. Visiting nurse services will be provided if eligible and appropriate.
