Description:

The Bel Aire Medical Respite Program was established to provide recuperative care for homeless individuals either post-discharge from the hospital or as a means of avoiding a hospital stay altogether. The program has 7 beds and receives referrals both from the hospital in Burlington, VT and community referrals. Individuals admitted to the program typically remain with us for two to four weeks (sometimes longer). The Social Worker works with respite guests to access additional resources as needed.

The program is staffed 24/7 and offer guests a safe and supportive environment in which to rest and recover.

Admission Criteria:

1. Homeless/marginally housed and unable to return due to current housing situation
2. Has an Acute Medical Condition
3. Independent with all ADLs
4. Independently mobile
5. Continent of urine and feces
6. Appropriate for a group setting? (may or may not apply)
7. Not currently withdrawing or at risk to withdraw
